Certificate in Medieval Archaeology
The interest in the archaeology of the Middle Ages has increased considerably in the last few years. However, few American universities offer any specialized courses in Medieval Archaeology, despite the growing number of graduate students applying to the Ph.D. or M.A. program in History with an interest in both the Middle Ages and material culture. The Certificate Graduate Program in Medieval Archaeology at the University of Florida, the only one of its kind so far in North America, is therefore designed to respond to that demand. The certificate, recognizing the importance of the special skills required in the field of Medieval Archaeology (analytical skills, basic field techniques, knowledge of medieval history, ability to combine written with archaeological sources), can serve as a credential for developing career options.
